My Week With Marilyn – Movie Review

My Week With Marily Movie Review,

Movie My My Week With MarilynWeek With Marilyn movie review,My Week With Marilyn movie story which is directed by Simon Curtis, does not offer anything more than what we have read about Manroe so far. It brings back her days of the making of the 1957 filmThe Prince and the Showgirl on screens. But what strikes one's mind is the scintillating performance byMichelle Williams, who has recreated Manroe's magic, thereby elevating the film to a different level.

My Week With Marilyn is a biographical film and Michelle Williams' brilliant performance as Manroe is the major highlight. The film is based on Colin Clark'sThe Prince and The Showgirl and Me and My Week with Marilyn. These are the two diary accounts of Clark, which document his time on the set of the 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl and the time he spent with Monroe.

The movie obviously recreates the 1950s era of Hollywood filmmaking and it also gives the viewers a peek into the life of Marilyn Monroe. But it has a very slow-paced narration that makes it a boring watch. Moreover, there has no proper on-screen chemistry between the two lead roles, which is another biggest drawback of the film.

Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) is making a movie in London. Young Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) is an eager film student and he finds himself a job on the set. When film star Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) arrives for the start of shooting, all of London is excited to see the blonde bombshell, while Olivier is struggling to meet her many demands and acting ineptness, and Colin is intrigued by her. Colin's intrigue is met when Marilyn invites him into her inner world where she struggles with her fame, her beauty and her desire to be a great actress. How 23-year-old Clark takes it upon himself to free the troubled star from her demons, despite Olivier's warning against rescuing her.

As Monroe, Michelle Williams has managed to get into the skin of her character and her makeups like blonde curly hair, red lipstick and body pads have been done splendidly. As an aging thespian, Kenneth Branagh has also delivered a brilliant performance. Eddie Redmayne and Judi Dench are also impressive in their respective roles.

Overall, the movie My Week With Marilyn has a bad script and background score, but the performance of Michelle Williams should be enjoyed by the audience. Don't miss it if you are a fan of Marilyn.
