Bollywood’s bold, beautiful and talented actress Vidya Balan on Thursday received the Best Actress National Award from the Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari in New Delhi for her performance as an unabashed siren in the Bollywood movie The Dirty Picture.
Vidya Balan looked lovely in a rose pink-coloured Kanjeevaram saree (the pallu very much in place), minimal make-up and chandelier earrings. She was greeted with claps while receiving the Rajat Kamal from the Vice President.
“I am extremely humbled.
This (National Award) is the highest honour for any actor, and I feel happy and humbled and I just wish that the team of The Dirty Picture was with me to share this moment. This is truly humbling,” Vidya told reporters after receiving the award.
Vidya was accompanied by her parents to the ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Incidentally, her rumoured boyfriend Siddharth Roy Kapur was also there to receive award for Chillar Party (Best Children’s Film) on behalf of UTV.
The 59th National Film Awards ceremony was hosted by actors Vinay Pathak and Saumya Tandon. It saw separate performances by Bollywood music composer Amit Trivedi and singer Anand Bhate.
